Rain Rain go away

Published by reshmac under General, It's my life

After another busy and rainy week had an ambrosial meal at Pizzeria Uno , I feel they serve the best pizza in the world . The shroom chicken pizza with stir fried chicken followed by a delicious Sizzling brownie with icecream made a perfect meal and was sufficient to recharge my soul after a hectic week .

Shroom Pizza

Chocolate Brownie icecream

It rained whole week and sometimes traffic made our journey from office to home, seem like an eternity !We need to find a carpool SOON!!!!

My current project involves a lot of c++ , xml code and I am simply amazed by the number of libraries C++ offers.We use RWCString class quite often for manipulation of strings , it makes string operations much easier by handling single as well as multibyte character sets.

This simple example shows the beauty of handling strings
#include <>
#include

int main(){
RWCString a(”There is no joy in Beantown.”);

std::cout << a << endl << "becomes...." << std::endl;

RWTRegex re("[A-Z][a-z]*town"); // Any capitalized "town"
a.replace(re, "Roswell");
std::cout << a << std::endl;
return 0;
}

Program output:

There is no joy in Roswell.

There are similar functions available with this class and as we have a paid licence for using this class, it has been used very often in the related programs .

I Cant resist mentioning this incidence in my blog which happened last week. My dear friend was returning from work at around 11:30 p.m. and there were quite a few people on road.Two overly drunk guys started following him and started swearing for absolutely no reason.He turned back and that became the reason for the mishap. Like complete psychos they started bashing this poor fellow,the attack was so unexpected that it took some time for him to register what was happening.There were people on road but noone even felt like stopping by and asking, let alone helping him .Luckily Rajesh (another friend of mine) was passing by and immediately called up cops, within 5 minutes cops arrived. By this time his nose was bleeding and face swollen still somehow he managed to catch hold of those guys.Cops simply noted down their names and asked them to leave saying they neither had any weapon nor they saw guys beating him. There are multiple fractures detected in his nose and he is under medication, I am sure he would recover pretty soon ( as he was planning long weekend's trip yesterday ) but I am furious as my innocent friend was a sheer victim of some irresponsible maniacs .

Such incidences keep me wondering about where the next generation is heading to. Today's students are going to be tomorrow's citizens.Psychos like these guys should have been punished severely by university Police, so that next time anyone would think twice before commiting such stupid mistakes and learn lesson in a harder way.

Double Victory!

Published by reshmac under General, It's my life, Technology

Yesterday the first email I read after entering office was “EMC acquires Kashya” .The San Jose, California-based company was acquired in a cash transaction valued at approximately $153 million.Good start of the day ..

Went through the tapes of navisphere architecture framework and the project which I would be working on , it was a looongg video too many new concepts to grasp.Had lunch with shreyas and his manager Jeffrey. The lunch included spinach cream soup, salad and noodles, the cafeteria seems pretty decent. Had a first meeting with my manager after lunch break, he was one of my interviewers and even remembered my answers :-) .Today EMC acquired Interlink, North American-based IT professional services firm.
not a bad week at all for EMC !!

I was very exhausted and hungry when came home from work and found Neha(My dear roomie) in Kitchen making her special Methi malai mutter.food was yummiie..isn’t she an angel!!
Reading my all time favorite book C++ Primer by Stanley Lippman the writing style always reminds me the way
Sunil (My best buddy) used to teach me. Tomorrow seems to be a complete C++ and xml day ,I am waiting for tomorrow evening cause that is when the weekend starts :-) …..

The power of i!!!

Published by reshmac under I recommend, Review, Technology

Making a web site never seemed as easy as with iWeb.You can create a complete website with podcasts, photos, and movies and get them online, fast. Just drag, drop, and design using your choice of web templates, then publish live to your .Mac account. You can use the iLife Media Browser to drag in your photos, movies, and podcasts, then simply type over the placeholder text on your page template.Using the iLife Media Browser, you can access all your iLife content photos, video, audio without leaving iWeb. Drag in the podcast or song you recorded or iPhoto album of your choice, your latest iMovie project.After all it just works :)

Distance Learning

Published by reshmac under I recommend, Review, Technology

IEEE has an excellent facility of distance learning where some exclusive audio tutorials along with tests can be accessed. I have taken around 8 courses with them and found all of them pretty inclusive especially the linux administartion course . If you are already not a pro in these areas then its the best way to learn fundamentals along with few practical exercises which they provide on a virtual platform. Somehow I feel only reading tutorials never help me, I am a visual person and as IEEE’ audio visual tutorials use lots of visual aids and clickable icons on the tutorial pages, it become easy to visualize the topic.
