My latest crush

Published by reshmac under General, I recommend, Review

I think I am in love ..yes you heard it right, how can anyone not fall in love with it. I am talking about one of the best endevours of man to reach perfection till now: new iMacs :). If you want to take your breath away, visit my school’s Info Commons lab, all the old Mac machines are relpaced by brand new iMacs. I happened to visit the lab yesterday and was on cloud nine when got to use the new machines. Being a girl the very first experiment was a quick portfolio session using photo booth, the iSight camera is so beutifully integrated that I hardly noticed it initially, the quality of pictures is awesome (Immediately sent fresh snaps with lots of cool effects to mummy daddy :) ).

Yes this slim shape has a place for everything from power supply to high quality speakers. With 2 Ghz Intel core duo processor, it gives double computational power at the same time six hours of battery life. The perfomance is so sturdy that we selected all applications and opened them simultaneously and without getting unstable for a second all the applications opened beautifully.

The iDVD 6 feature can make the slideshow of your pictures, look like a masterpiece. I watched the preview of Hollywood blockbusters from the Apple.com QuickTime movie trailer website and believe me the picture quality on media display was even better than the theatre effect.

The mighty mouse has a scroll ball which can be used to Scroll up, scroll down, even scroll diagonally within a document without lifting a finger. And the list will go on and on, now I will be going home but promise to you my dear Mac that I will come daily to visit you and the next laptop I buy is definitely going to be a MacBook :)

That reminds me, recently I watched “The pirates of Silicon Valley“, a must watch movie for all my software buddies. The story is about the parallel journey of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. It was not at all a documentary as I had expected it to be, infact the movie has a good story, an exciting start and a nail biting climax :)

Six weird things about me

Published by reshmac under General, It's my life

Tagged by melody, so here goes six weird things about me …actually my sis can tell you 100 weird things about me(like she has a weird nose and she has a weird sneeze ..lol). But let me keep it short.

One: I have a huge appetite for mangoes, I can have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also prefer mango icecream, can have three at a time and never put on weight whoaa..

Two: When I was ten , I had an imaginary intelligent virtual friend (wont disclose the name ;) though). She used to be my idol and motivation for studying hard, how I miss her…I dont think either melody or Nooje can beat me with this ….

Three: I have a long tongue, I can touch my nose with it and sometimes can act like a snake and scare people around me.

Four: I always put body butter before leaving the house, even if it’s not cold outside I make it a point to put it, that makes me feel special throughout the day and somehow it’s smell makes me nostalgic and gives the feeling of being in my room at my house in India.

Five: I keep a safe distance from all pets (even if they are irrestibaly cute ) , I had a cat when I was in junior college and once she bit me real hard and had to take an injection :( . Since then I could never get close to pets, Yeah all you pet lovers, I AM scared of your loved ones.

Cat

Six:I have a unique talent of sleeping anywhere, location and time no bar, I can get sound sleep in cybercafe, library, car, seminar hall, movie theatre without getting disturbed by surrounding noise. (Only my roomie can beat me in sleeping, she asks me to wake her up in 2 minutes, and she actually gets up in two minutes :) )
Tagging Abhi and Tarang!
So here ends my weirdo blog… chao

Say cheese :)

Published by reshmac under General, It's my life, Review

Played badminton after almost 7 years. whoa …was great fun (though I lost all the games ;) ). We decided to spend friday night at a very cozy and frilly restaurant, Cheesecake factory (after 4 blogs dedicated to food you must have guessed that I am a food freak).

Cheesecake Factory

Often there is a long wait, but they give you a pager that works throughout the mall so you can shop while you wait. We were lucky enough to get a table even on friday night. It’s interior has a more soothing design because of lighted alcoves and faux finishes than the funkier downtown location. After going through the 19 pages menu for half an hour we ordered frozen iced mango, chicken pot stickers and popcorn shrimps for appetizers (chicken was a disappointment ).

Chicken Madeira

Abhilash (my dear friend from CMU, currently doing internship in Boston) had lots of stories to share till we ordered the main course. I went for chicken madeira the speaciality of cheesecake, which was loaded with mozarella and ended up eating only half the dish as it was too heavy. In the end not to insult special delicacy of the eatery, we ordered just one Tiramisu cheese cake and shared it.

Cheesecake

At the end of the day we had a hole in the pocket but sometimes you deserve little pampering :).

If you dont like the weather in Boston dont worry, it changes in five minutes. Right now its a nice sunny and bright sunday morning and I will be spending evening watching movies in amc, one of the movies in agenda is “The fast and the furious 3: Tokyo Drift”. Tomorrow again a busy week starts, I would be implementing my code on a real remote array and check the output cross your fingers for me.Me signing off now, dont want to miss sunday lunch :).

I scream for icecream!

Published by reshmac under It's my life, Review

At around 9:30 p.m. we were sitting in marino and had a strong craving for icecream so we fastened our seat belts and went to Cold stone, icecream store on Brookline avenue. Friends do not take friends for icecream to a grossary store :) ; the tag line, says it all.

ColdStone

you select your favorite freshly-made ice cream flavour, choose your Mix-ins and then blend it on a granite stone and a delicious icecream is ready to melt in your mouth. I had a germanchocolatecale icecream with lots of chocolate syrup which looked like this.
German chocolate

Loved the way they refer to sizes of icecream scoops; like it for small, love it for medium, and gotta have it for large :)

Niagara falls!!

Published by reshmac under General, I recommend, It's my life

This blog is dedicated to my fun packed weekend at the very beautiful Niagara falls. It was one of the best trips in my life, in just three days we covered a lot of places and activities. The most adventurous part of the trip was white water rafting and the great whirlpool ride in river.

Niagara Falls

This picture is of Niagara falls flowing with Approximately 35 miles/hour (56.3 kilometers/hour) speed. We had taken a tour of maid of the mist boat, which took us in front of the American Falls and into the basin of the horseshoe falls for a thirty minute tour and caves of the wind,a unique view that helped us get up close and personal with the falls. After first acquiring a poncho and special foot wear to give us better traction on the wet walkways, we descended to the tunnels via an elevator. At one point on the tour, we were within a few feet of the water cascading onto the boulders at the base of the falls. It’s like walking into a hurricane, with the wind and mist from the falls trying to steal our cheap poncho and soak us. That was one of the best feelings I have experienced .

Rainbow Bridge

Rainbrow bridge, connecting the Cities of Niagara Falls, New York and Niagara Falls, Ontario, spanning the Niagara River. The peculiairity of this bridge is the sunlight on one side of the bridge castes a rainbow on Niagara river on the other side ;due to its shape !

Fireworks

We were lucky to view the Special display of fireworks on Memorial Day. The Falls literally lighted up in a rainbow of colours and I tried to capture every moment in my heart.

Friends
Sagar, Tanu and me outside Taco bell in syracuse :)
