On the way back home I stopped at Starbucks and had the local flavor- Maple macchiato (pronounced as makiato). I felt as if my soul got recharged after a hectic week at work as I sipped my creamy coffee.
The maple syrup made it’s way down into the rest of the drink as I could feel the nice maple flavor throughout the drink. I am not a strong Espresso person and like light and creamy flavor. The ambiance of the place is soothing and refreshing. I also like the variety of Frapucchinos at Starbucks and my personal favorite is Strawberry. So if you ever need to recharge yourself or just savor the taste of hot cuppa coffee hit the nearest Starbucks and don’t forget to give me a call!
Ok! I take back my words today :-|, after getting an email at work from Horridge which stated:
” It is NOT recommended to use IE7. There are a number of applications and web sites that don’t support it and IT is supposed to be blocking the download until they have resolved the incompatibilities. “
After defending IE7 a lot like it has a cool UI and great features and leaving
comments on Mr Shreyas’ site proving how we should give them a chance and blah blah, I had to unistall IE7 from my office PC !
So all you microsoft guys, being a loyal user my full bet is still on Vista. Please Don’t make me eat words again :(, can not see the triumph look on shreyass’ face !
Just finished reading a fabulous book, Tuesdays with Morrie, it was strongly recommended by Neha, and I am so thankful to her for that. It’s not a self help book as I am not much fascinated with those types. But I got so engrossed in reading that I finished it in just two sessions. I always need a mentor whom I could rely on for advice at any point of time and I am so lucky to have sunil as my friend, philosopher and guide!!

Just came home after attending the Google tech talk in school and can’t wait to put down my experience! yes I m feeling lucky as I won the lucky gift from them; a super smart Google bag and a cool Google Tshirt
. I must say this was one of the best tech talks I have ever attended. The speaker Eric Flatt explained beautiful algorithms used for Google searching, loved the concept of considering each document as a vector and then finding cosine(vector dot product) to get the closely matching results. I regret for not taking Algorithms in first semester of MS, obviously I will be taking it in Fall 2007.
The best thing about the event was, there was a young guy roaming around in the hall with beard, wearing a crumpled Tshirt. Later Eric introduced him to the audience saying he works in the search (engine) team of Google and was a part of the recruitment program. Obviously when the guy started talking I came to know how smart he was, now I know how a true geek dresses like. In the question answer round a guy asked a very bold question (we had the same discussion in car on the way back home) that other than advertisements where does Google earn their revenue from. Eric gave a quick answer that advertisements itself earn enough(he meant unimaginable) revenue and ofcourse not to forget the Google Tshirts which are the coolest thing around campus these days :).
BTW we have a diwali puja in school tomorrow evening, will post the pics soon. Happy Diwali to everybody!

I have been working on the new look and feel for the website last week and I think by tonight, I can put it online. This is something my dear friend Shreyas has been suggesting for past couple of months and I finally got time and will to put in action. He thinks my new site is professional and sober (too bad for the previous one
)
At work, we had an outting for Navisphere team at Hopkinton State Park, it was a nice and chilly day to welcome Fall colors in New England. I feel the outting was the perk to handle the advent of busy days at work. Yes, I have 2 strict deadlines to meet in the next couple of months before my trip to home
!
Last 2 weekends have been kinda cold, no exciting activity as such, except the girls day out last weekend for some essential(???) winter shopping !! Shopping is one thing which gets back the excitement in life even during the not so happening days (which are very rare).

This is my sweetest birthday gift from dear bloggy friend Melody (lemme tell you, she undoubtedly writes the best blog according to me). I was so excited and touched when I received this customized header image she has made for my web site as a birthday gift. Isnt Melody a real sweetheart!!

I had mentioned in my previous post that there are few people, I meet just once but leave an impact for life. Met two such people in a single week, it was like a breakthrough I have been waiting for a long time. I remember each and every word of wisdom they have said to me, and I couldn’t help but get impressed by every second of their intelligence, aura and yet so down to earth nature. It’s not about what I learn or how much I know, it’s about the procedure, the way I do it gradually, yet satisfying.
Microsoft is coming to campus next week for seminars, would love to attend their talk on Vista and Office 2007 , there is also going to be a presentation focussing on XNA Game studio express, a set of tools based on Visual C#. Professor Rasala also mentioned about the ASP.Net 3.0, lets see if they mention the compatibility, i.e if traffic lets me touch campus before 6:30. Yesterday we took a good amount of 2 hours to come back home, but Shweta’s iPod and the thought of advent of weekend saved us all from boredom. That’s the beauty of Friday night, even though I had a bad day at work and the traffic was behaving as if there was a plot like the climax of ‘Italian Job’, nobody heard a single line of cribbing from my side

Had the worst dinner in Boston yesterday, at Uno Grill, the place was supposed to be my favourite eatery but not after trying the Rattlesnake Pasta with chicken bytes!!
