Rustic me!

Published by reshmac under General

If you are tired of monotonous routine and wish to revitalize your life, pack your backpacks and drive to white mountains. I spent a rocking long weekend at white mountains, New Hampshire State, just a few hours north of Boston. It was one of those trips organized by Harsh where you don’t have to worry about anything but to pack your bags(even the list of things to carry in the bag was dictated by Mr. Organizer and like any kindergarten I followed the list blindly). Our first destination was the Flume Gorge in Franconia state park, which is a 2 miles walking trail. The flume was a spectacular view and the trail was a road by the waterfall, I enjoyed the trail because it wasn’t an intense hike but a pleasurable uphill and downhill loop.

Later we went to our campground and set the tents, barbeques and fire, yes we all made a lavish and mouth watering Indian meal which included paneer tikka, barbeque chicken, pavbhaji, pulao and paneer pakodas and we ate sitting by the fire. What I really liked about the campground was, it gave me a rustic effect without causing any inconvenience. Next morning when I got up and came out of the tent, saw my friends playing volleyball and me not being a morning person, preferred to go for a walk by the river. What more can I ask for when I had a hot coffee in my hand and bench to sit by the river, I so needed such time to just revive myself. Though I like crowd around me, I also cherish these quiet moments just by myself.

Then we decided to go for mountain biking(the only outdoor activity I THOUGHT I was good at) and that is when my oh so perfect trip took a different turn. while going through a deep downhill, I lost control of the bike, the gears were set wrong, to make it worse I forced sudden breaks and the rest is a history :(. Following picture is the one clicked before the accident, where the overconfident me was flaunting the silly pink helmet. Later the gray jacket was full of mud and god knows if I would be able to use it again.

Riding

But I not being a spoiled sport, joined the group driving to the summit of Mount Washington, the highest peak in American northeast. The place is also famous for its notorious weather and we experienced a sudden change in the weather at the peak, but the view at the top literally took our breath away and we fought the biting cold and enjoyed the nature’s magnificence.

And this one covers everyone(except Shreyas who clicked the picture) participated, laughed, got injured(read as me), argued, amazed in these two days, after a year from now, all of them might be dispersed but we would always remember the golden days spent together.

First week at work

Published by reshmac under General

(I wrote this post a week back) It’s been a week since I started working as an intern, I know almost everyone except the few new faces at work. Things have not changed at all, the person who was most happy to see me back, was the cafeteria lady and I was equally glad to see Francisco serving the same special veggie omelet for breakfast. The only change in my schedule is now my day starts at 6 a.m. and ends a little late too.

Now something about the new disorder I have developed and I think it caught up gradually, I also suspect it to be hereditary. It’s a complete shopping mania, yesterday was the third consecutive weekend when I shopped till I dropped. It was a roomies special shopping tour to South Shore Plaza and all four girls came home only after satiating their closets and emptying their pockets :).

After a long silence

Published by reshmac under General

I am back after a longgg absence, there was so much to write every single day but so little time and energy. Last four months have been full of ups and downs, now that I look back I would say it was the most eventful and interesting semester. Got a chance to work on some exciting projects, even with lots of quizzes, deadlines and cribbing I had a wonderful time. I am planning to put up a new page for the projects, I enjoyed working on. I am also planning to shift the hosting in a couple of months, and hopefully will come up with a fresh new template :).

It’s now little over a week since the semester got over, and I am looking forward to start my internship from Monday. Spent the week in tweaking the application I created for the research work of a professor, also went for the famous freedom trail in Boston with Sapna, miss PHD and her friend from Canada. I did not visit all the historic places (because of my heels) but did manage to cover the important ones, like the Paul Revere House , Old North Church , USS Constitution.

I have a reading backlog of 2 books: “Surely You’re Joking Mr. Feynman” and “Atlas Shrugged” which I have as usual started together and haven’t finished either of them. But I have also managed to read a couple of more books I had started, miss PHD gets more and more books every month and we start a reading marathon at home.
Today is the last day of my vacation and my student life will take one more short break for 4 months before I get back to school for my final semester. May be this was the last ever school vacation of my life. I would miss these carefree weeks of my life for which I wait the whole semester, I guess life is fast and time moved faster!!
