Mogra chai

Published by reshmac under General, Technology

Yesterday I had Jasmine tea at Bamboo, (BTW a treat for Chinese, Japanese cuisine) and now officially its my hot beverage for this season, I gulped down this entire kettle. Surprisingly the floral smell was not irritatingly sweet (I get headaches because of lot of floral smells) but soothing and refreshing, also loved the rock sugar stick which added perfect sweetness.

This doesn’t help someone already hopelessly addicted to coffee, Elaichi tea, mountain dew and similar. Take away either of these for a day and find me wild or sulking at the corner.
And I just noticed the following:
-I use Jasmine oil,
- order Jasmine rice,
- wear Nina ricci perfume with Jasmine fragrance and
- drink Jasmine tea
In short I am a Mogra girl! (This post needs to be skipped)

I m feeling lucky

google tshirt

Just came home after attending the Google tech talk in school and can’t wait to put down my experience! yes I m feeling lucky as I won the lucky gift from them; a super smart Google bag and a cool Google Tshirt :) . I must say this was one of the best tech talks I have ever attended. The speaker Eric Flatt explained beautiful algorithms used for Google searching, loved the concept of considering each document as a vector and then finding cosine(vector dot product) to get the closely matching results. I regret for not taking Algorithms in first semester of MS, obviously I will be taking it in Fall 2007.

The best thing about the event was, there was a young guy roaming around in the hall with beard, wearing a crumpled Tshirt. Later Eric introduced him to the audience saying he works in the search (engine) team of Google and was a part of the recruitment program. Obviously when the guy started talking I came to know how smart he was, now I know how a true geek dresses like. In the question answer round a guy asked a very bold question (we had the same discussion in car on the way back home) that other than advertisements where does Google earn their revenue from. Eric gave a quick answer that advertisements itself earn enough(he meant unimaginable) revenue and ofcourse not to forget the Google Tshirts which are the coolest thing around campus these days :).

Double Victory!

Published by reshmac under General, It's my life, Technology

Yesterday the first email I read after entering office was “EMC acquires Kashya” .The San Jose, California-based company was acquired in a cash transaction valued at approximately $153 million.Good start of the day ..

Went through the tapes of navisphere architecture framework and the project which I would be working on , it was a looongg video too many new concepts to grasp.Had lunch with shreyas and his manager Jeffrey. The lunch included spinach cream soup, salad and noodles, the cafeteria seems pretty decent. Had a first meeting with my manager after lunch break, he was one of my interviewers and even remembered my answers :-) .Today EMC acquired Interlink, North American-based IT professional services firm.
not a bad week at all for EMC !!

I was very exhausted and hungry when came home from work and found Neha(My dear roomie) in Kitchen making her special Methi malai mutter.food was yummiie..isn’t she an angel!!
Reading my all time favorite book C++ Primer by Stanley Lippman the writing style always reminds me the way
Sunil (My best buddy) used to teach me. Tomorrow seems to be a complete C++ and xml day ,I am waiting for tomorrow evening cause that is when the weekend starts :-) …..

The power of i!!!

Published by reshmac under I recommend, Review, Technology

Making a web site never seemed as easy as with iWeb.You can create a complete website with podcasts, photos, and movies and get them online, fast. Just drag, drop, and design using your choice of web templates, then publish live to your .Mac account. You can use the iLife Media Browser to drag in your photos, movies, and podcasts, then simply type over the placeholder text on your page template.Using the iLife Media Browser, you can access all your iLife content photos, video, audio without leaving iWeb. Drag in the podcast or song you recorded or iPhoto album of your choice, your latest iMovie project. After all it just works :)

Distance Learning

Published by reshmac under I recommend, Review, Technology

IEEE has an excellent facility of distance learning where some exclusive audio tutorials along with tests can be accessed. I have taken around 8 courses with them and found all of them pretty inclusive especially the linux administartion course . If you are already not a pro in these areas then its the best way to learn fundamentals along with few practical exercises which they provide on a virtual platform. Somehow I feel only reading tutorials never help me, I am a visual person and as IEEE’ audio visual tutorials use lots of visual aids and clickable icons on the tutorial pages, it become easy to visualize the topic.
